Evening Sessions & Courses (starting April 2016)

Monday Evenings.

  • Juniors Beginners Kayaking
    For 8 -14 year olds new to kayaking
  • Juniors Improvers Kayaking
    Follow on from the beginner's sessions - for those with some experience
  • Juniors Intermediate Kayaking
    Follow on from the improver's sessions - for those with more experience.
  • Adult Beginners and Improvers - Kayaking
    An ideal chance to join the adult group while your children are busy enjoying themselves in their own groups.

Tuesday Evenings

  • Beginners Kayaking
    For first timers and those with little experience in a kayak - working towards the BCU 1 Star standard
  • Improvers Kayaking
    For those with some kayaking experience - working towards the BCU 2 Star standard
  • Intermediate Kayaking
    Further skills to prepare for paddling on moving water -working towards the BCU 3 Star standard
  • Canoeing - Beginners/Improvers
    Canoe skills - working towards the BCU 2 Star standard
  • Recreation and "Sit on Top" Paddling
    Not looking to be a kayak hero? No experience required! Happy just being on the water but need some essential skills to keep you safe? Join us and enjoy learning on the beautiful River Dart, bring your own "sit on top" or use one of ours (or a kayak)

Thursday Evenings

  • Introduction to Sea Kayaking
    For paddlers of 2* level and will include skills specific to a sea kayak.

Extra Thursday evening courses on offer later in the summer:

  • BCU Coastal Planning and Tidal Navigation Course
    This is an essential course for anyone that would like to plan and navigate coastal journeys.
  • Incident Management Day
    An intensive day in and on the water, great fun and not to be missed if you intend to be peer paddling on the sea in the future.
  • Intermediate Canoeing
    Further skills to prepare for paddling an open boat on moving water - working towards BCU 3 Star standard

 

Our courses are run by qualified BCU coaches. Included in the cost of the Tuesday sessions is the chance of assessment for the B.C.U. 1 to 3 Star Tests.

Canoes, Kayaks and all equipment except for clothing are provided. Adults, families and juniors from age 14 upward are all welcome.

Paddlers should arrive at the KEVICC Elmhurst site car park between 6.00 and 6.15 for registration and to allow for time to get changed. If you haven't attended before please join the club by following the "Join Here" link on the home page and enrol and pay on line as instructed. You will be emailed to confirm your enrolment and course place.

Regretfully missed sessions cannot be refunded.

Sit-on-Tops

The Club is actively encouraging people with sit-on-tops to come along and join. The BCU 1-star qualifications are valid for sit-ons and the Club can help you to achieve the skills required for getting the most from your boat.
