White Water Safety and Rescue Practice Session

Postby Mik Wells » Thu Sep 27, 2012 21:35

we will be running a White Water Safety and Rescue Introduction and Practice session for all club members on Sunday 30th September. This is suitable for both beginners to learn new techniques and as practice for more experienced paddlers. Everyone should be experienced in these techniques before going onto moving water.

We will meet at KEVICS car park at 10:30 on Sunday to practice throw-line techniques after which we will go to Dartmoor to practice passive and active swimming in moving water, including rescuing swimmers using the throw-line techniques from the morning. We should be finishing mid to late afternoon.

You will need normal clothing for the morning and kayaking/canoeing gear for the afternoon, but no boats/paddles, plus a packed lunch with hot drinks and do not forget warm clothing for when you come off the water.

Any questions? Please ask Rob Dack
